This Fall Prevention Workshop will be held on March 15th, 2024 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm at the North Oakland Senior Center located at 5714 Martin Luther King Jr Way in Oakland, CA.

Holly Reese, the Oakland LGBTQ Community Center,  the Lavender Seniors of the East Bay, and the City of Oakland present this fun and educational Fall Prevention Workshop, a public event that provides health education and practical exercises for fall prevention.

On September 30th, 2023, at age 61, Holly officially set the Guinness World Record for the “Most Pushups in an Hour by a Woman” with an amazing 1,207 push-ups in an hour. Watch the whole event here.

Holly’s Credentials

Holly Reese, MSOM, L.Ac. is a Healthy Aging Coach specializing in the older adult population. She is a board-licensed acupuncturist, motivational speaker, and best-selling author. In addition, she holds certifications in Medical Qigong, Hypnotherapy, and as a NASM CPT with specializations in Corrective Exercise and Senior Fitness. Holly is also currently a candidate for a PhD in Health Education and Promotion at Walden University.

Holly has rigorously studied kinesiology, qi, energy work, and meditation for more than forty years. Holly has trained in the martial arts since the age of 12 and has earned two black belts, one in Tae Kwon Do and the other in Choy Lay Fut Kung Fu.

I’m afraid of getting injured or aggravating an existing condition, can Holly help me?

This is one of the most important reasons to have a healthy aging coach who can guide you safely and effectively through your program. Holly is experienced working with older adult clients who may have chronic pain or illness, or injuries. She is attentive to your how you feel during any movement and will scale or regress or choose an alternative solution so that you can feel comfortable performing while getting results.

I’d like to feel stronger, climb stairs, improve my balance and stability and be more active, but I feel like I missed the boat. Is it really possible?
Things that are unfamiliar can seem like they may be too difficult. Holly is here to show you how you can achieve your health and fitness goals starting from where you are now. Holly will be there for you with encouragement and expert guidance every step of the way. Holly has over 40 years of health and fitness experience that she will use to help you reach your goals. Holly’s clients range in age from 40 to 96 years old. It is never too late to start, you’ll be glad you did!
I’m out of shape and too intimidated to go to a gym. What can I do?
It’s a common feeling and completely understandable. That is why Holly has a completely private small studio setting available as well as access to a full gym setting. (Home training may be available for certain nearby locations). The location is your choice. The most important thing is that you get started. And, once you get started in the private studio setting, you may eventually become confident enough to try out the full gym.
I would really like to lose weight and fix my diet, but I don’t know how.
It can feel a bit overwhelming to tackle our diet and eating habits, especially alone. If you are ready to get started and willing to make changes, Holly can help you with a diet and nutrition plan that moves you in the right direction by making small attainable changes one step at a time. It is steady commitment to small changes that become healthy habits that reap great rewards over time.
